Hey there. Thanks for checking out my website!
My name is Natee. I’m from Thailand. I’m a normal guy who managed to improve my spoken English without going abroad. I created this website to share what I’ve learned with other English learners.
Here’s my story….
One day in April 2013, I was having a phone call in English with a French guy. (My job required me to speak English from time to time.) I couldn’t communicate well. During the call, I wanted to ask him a simple question, but I couldn’t even form that question in English.
After the call, I felt terrible since I’d been trying to improve my spoken English for a long time (about 1 year and 4 months), but I still wasn’t happy with my level.
I didn’t want to be perfect. I just wanted to communicate well enough to do my job.
But I didn’t know what to do! The problem was that I lived in Thailand. All my friends and colleagues spoke Thai. I didn’t have a speaking partner to practice with.
But I really wanted to speak English well. There were a few Thais in the company who could speak excellent English. These people had lived in English-speaking countries for many years at some point in their lives.
I was jealous and wanted to speak English like them.
So, this is what I did:
- I did some research on the best ways to learn and improve a skill.
- I studied how polyglots learn a new language. (Polyglots are people who can speak multiple languages.)
- I explored topics such as human memory and language acquisition.
- I tried different language-learning methods.
Basically, I became obsessed with improving my spoken English.
And then…five months later, I realized that my spoken English had improved quite a lot!
This is what I wrote in my diary:
Today, I had two opportunities to speak English with others. The first chance was a meeting with some people where we were asked to give opinions about certain topics. The second chance was a one-on-one meeting. I spoke fluently. I was able to explain everything I wanted to explain. I made small mistakes and couldn’t come up with the right words sometimes, but overall, it was impressive. The methods really worked!
But that was a long time ago. My English is much better these days.
Don’t get me wrong. I don’t speak like a native. But when I speak English in public, others tend to think that I must have lived in the US for many years. (I haven’t.)
Today, I share my knowledge on this website and my YouTube channel. I’m so glad you’ve found me, and I hope you find my advice useful!
